Gardeners Redbridge is committed to conducting its business ethically, responsibly, and in full compliance with applicable laws. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Gardeners Redbridge.

Our Operations and Supply Chain

Gardeners Redbridge provides gardening, landscaping, and associated services. Our supply chain includes providers of plants and growing media, gardening tools and equipment, uniforms and consumables, transport and logistics, and various professional and support services.

We recognise that some sectors and geographies present a higher risk of modern slavery. We are committed to identifying and addressing these risks through a structured approach to supplier engagement and oversight.

Supplier Standards and Due Diligence

We expect all suppliers and contractors to uphold the same high standards that we apply to ourselves. As a condition of doing business with Gardeners Redbridge, suppliers are required to confirm that they do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking and that they comply with all relevant labour and human rights legislation.

Where appropriate, we seek assurances from suppliers on working conditions, recruitment practices, and the right of workers to freely choose their employment. We may request supporting documentation or evidence of policies and procedures that demonstrate compliance.

Supplier Audits and Monitoring

To reinforce our zero-tolerance stance, we operate a risk-based programme of supplier audits and monitoring. This may include on-site visits, interviews with management and workers, and the review of employment records and practices. Priority is given to suppliers operating in higher-risk categories or regions, or where concerns have been raised.

If an audit identifies actual or potential modern slavery issues, we will require the supplier to implement a corrective action plan within a defined timeframe. Continued non-compliance, or any refusal to cooperate, may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship with that supplier.

Training and Awareness

We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our team. Relevant employees receive information and guidance on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our policies, and knowing how to escalate concerns.

We aim to embed respect for human rights into our everyday decision-making, including procurement, recruitment, and contract management activities.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Gardeners Redbridge encourages anyone working for or with us to report any suspicion or concern relating to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised to line managers or senior management in confidence. Reports may be made without fear of retaliation, and all concerns will be treated seriously and investigated where appropriate.

We do not tolerate victimisation of anyone who, in good faith, raises a concern or participates in an investigation. Where necessary, we will cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities to address serious issues identified.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continual improvement. Gardeners Redbridge is committed to regularly reviewing and enhancing our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes to respond to evolving best practice and emerging risks.

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective and relevant to our activities and supply chain. Revisions are approved at the highest appropriate level of governance and communicated internally and, where relevant, externally.
